We want to assure you that safety is our main priority and as well as continuing to operate in a COVID-secure way (which we have done throughout) we want to remind you that we practice the following to minimise risk and make Knightswood a safe place to be:
All staff and all (limited) visitors to the Centre will begin by having their temperature taken by using a handheld non-skin-touch device. One of these devices will be carried aboard every bus we use, and we will be requiring the carer on board to take the temperature of every client before they board their transport.
In the event of any raised temperature being evidenced, we will ask that client to kindly remain at home for 7 days, and then we will take their temperature again before they come back on the bus for the Centre.
We will contact any family member or close friend as necessary at that time in the event that someone is deemed to be at risk through a raised temperature and make sure they are aware of the fact.
In order to keep your safety and wellbeing along with that of our wonderful staff, at the top of our agenda, we have conducted a thorough risk assessment of the entire building, transport vehicles and every one of our procedures.
As a result of this, the whole building has been thoroughly deep-cleansed. Every available surface has been dealt with including the carpets being cleaned, furniture up-ended and cleaned top-to-tail, all the offices, communal areas, lounges and furniture, dining-room and furniture, bathroom and toilet facilities.
Going forward we have new cleaning procedures in place alongside throughout-the-day sanitising.
On board the buses, face-masks will be provided and these must be worn for the journey each way (or your own launder able face-covering over mouth and nose will be fine). The staff on board the bus will each be wearing a mask too.
There will be fewer seats for use on each bus to ensure social distancing, and we will therefore be using all three buses to get everyone to the Centre in good time.
The buses will be sanitised after every journey by our staff, paying particular attention to every touch-point on board.
We have given much thought to our activities during the days, and we will avoid sharing items where possible. Over lunch we will ask that clients sit one per table, but be reassured we will be moving around and chatting to everyone so it won’t at all be a lonely lunch time.
You will notice the staff moving around the Centre being careful to keep a good ‘social distance’ and therefore maintaining the Centre as a place of safety. Masks (and visors when hoisting) will be worn by staff for the duration of any 1:1 personal care.
We will take every opportunity be outside in our beautiful garden as often the weather allows us – fresh air and sunshine is helpful to us all.
We ask that if you develop any of the following symptoms that you get a test to check if you have Coronavirus as soon as possible and stay home and do not have visitors until you get your test results.
If you are due to visit Knightswood and are experiencing any of the above symptoms, we kindly ask that you stay at home and contact us to let us know. We also ask that you or a family member inform us as soon as possible if you have tested positive for Coronavirus. This is vitally important if you have visited the Centre within the last 14 days or are due for us to pick you up on the bus. For more information about the symptoms of Coronavirus and what to do, please follow the Government guidance on the link below.
